FAQs:
-
Will chiropractic help me?
Only a consultation with Dr. Russell Brokstein could answer this question. Schedule a consultation today! If the consult and exam findings show chiropractic can help you, we will begin treatment. If Dr. Brokstein finds another specialist would better fit your condition, he will make a recommendation to you. -
What can I expect on the first visit?
Unlike other offices, we do not overbook. We value and respect your time, so we keep waiting to a minimum. To help expedite your first visit, you can go to our website www.chiropractorfreehold.com and click the Forms tab to print and fill them out before coming to the office. Make sure you bring a photo ID, your insurance card and a form of payment for what your insurance says is your responsibility or if you are a cash patient. Dr. Brokstein will then discuss your condition, then perform a state of the art computerized scan on your spine to show you where pressure is occurring on your nerves, and then do orthopedic evaluation to determine the cause of these imbalances. All patients will receive treatment during the first visit (if you agree to the treatment) so we can start providing you the pain relief you are looking for. -
How long are visits?
Your first visit will include a thorough examination. This visit will be around 45 minutes, as you will find it to be one of the most thorough evaluations you have experienced. Dr. Brokstein will take the time to find what is causing your pain and how treatment will correct it. Follow up treatment visits are about 15 minutes long. Most chiropractic visits at other doctors are just 2 to 4 minutes, but Dr. Brokstein takes the time to address the different causes. Using a combination of chiropractic adjustments, therapeutic stretching and if needed, different therapies, we are working to correct the imbalances leading to your condition. Dr. Brokstein also takes the time to show you home stretching to help expedite your recovery. -
Do you take insurance?
We take all insurances. Each insurance is different, but as long as there are chiropractic benefits, a portion of your visit will be paid based on what your insurance allowances are. -
Is chiropractic treatment appropriate for children?
There are many benefits for children to get adjusted. Children are extremely active, so they often fall or bump their bodies on furniture, walls, etc. Even being born is traumatic for a child! It often creates their first subluxation, since the spine of an infant is soft and underdeveloped. And as children grow, they learn to walk, which means falling, stumbling, tumbling, twisting, and various other injuries to the spine. This can cause a number of symptoms (including back and neck pain, stiffness, soreness or discomfort) but you are unlikely to hear about it or see signs of this until much later in life. Chiropractic treatment helps restore a balanced flow of energy and betters your child's performance and control of his body as he goes through different stages of development. Without subluxations, your child also has a lower risk of future health challenges. With regular chiropractic care, your child may also have a stronger immune system. -
Is chiropractic care safe for pregnant women?
Yes! Chiropractic care is completely safe for pregnant women and the baby as well. It is especially helpful to women who experience back pain while pregnant, yet are looking to avoid medications during that time. Many pregnant women find chiropractic adjustments to be very helpful to relieve low back pain and sciatica brought on by pregnancy. More than ever before, Ob-gyns are recommending that their patients see a chiropractor to help with pregnancy related aches and pains. -
What type of education do chiropractic doctors receive?
Chiropractors like Dr. Brokstein are surprisingly well-educated! They complete a minimum of seven years of schooling in college. Dr. Brokstein has a 4 year Biology degree from The Pennsylvania State University, and also attended Life Chiropractic College for another 4 years. Medical school and chiropractic schooling are actually quite similar. However, Chiropractors do not prescribe medications or perform surgeries. On the other hand, MDs cannot correct subluxations in the spine like chiropractors can - so there are definite differences in what they focus on in their schooling. Where doctors might have more preliminary testing before they can practice medicine, chiropractors never stop learning. They are always staying current with the latest research and techniques.
