Spinal Hygiene Is Important Just like Dental Hygiene
Admin
Just like you have dental hygiene to help your teeth be healthy, we have spinal hygiene. You do not wait until your teeth hurt or rot out! You start brushing your teeth, flossing, using mouth wash daily and going to the dentist once or twice a year to make sure your teeth don’t get cavities and fall out. At least your teeth can be replaced!
You are born with one spine and it protects the most important system of the body: YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM! It controls all functions of your body, allows you to move and LIVE!
Daily stresses from the time you are born cause the spine to misalign or subluxate. The longer the bones are subluxated they put more pressure on the nerves and discs. They also start to decay. Unlike your teeth, your spine cannot be replaced.
That’s why spinal hygiene is so important. Chiropractors adjust the vertebra to remove pressure from the nervous
system and allow your joints to move correctly. Exercise and stretching is also important to help improve and maintain your spinal health.
There are times you can go to the dentist and think you are fine, but the doctor tells you, “Mrs. Smith, you have a cavity here, lets take care of it now.” You’re not going to turn around and tell the doctor to leave it because you don’t feel pain. AND you won’t tell him, just shoot it with Novocaine, then you won’t feel it. You will want him to take care of the cavity as soon as possible before it gets worse.
Unfortunately many people treat their spine quite the opposite. They think that because there is no pain there is no problem. They wait til they have pain or until it gets unbearable. We as chiropractors can find your problems before they get chronic and painful. Most go to their medical doctors who just push pain relievers, muscle relaxers and anti-inflammatories. Not only do these just mask your symptoms like the Novocaine would for your teeth, but the underlying condition would get worse and you would be affected by all the harmful side effects of these drugs.
As your chiropractor in Freehold, we find the cause of your problems then help educate you on spinal hygiene. It’s important to stretch, correct your posture and work on your core muscles for stabilization. Just getting adjusted until the pain eases is just providing temporary relief. The problem didn’t form overnight and can’t be corrected overnight. Healing takes time.
It’s your body and you have to decide. Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? If you haven’t been in a long time, get back on the track to optimal health and well being. If you are currently under care, make sure you do the exercises I show you. Below are some of the videos I put together to show you your spinal hygiene stretches for your neck, low back and legs.
