Many people “surge” their way to sickness and illness due to overwhelming stress.
Think of your body like a house with a circuit breaker system. If you overload a circuit with too much “stress” by having too many appliances plugged in, it will blow. Now, if the circuit was going to your kitchen and the refrigerator wasn’t working, the food would spoil. How would you resolve the problem? Would you just remove the spoiled food and put new fresh food in it? We all know that wouldn’t work as that new food would spoil too unless you reset the circuit that goes to the kitchen so the refrigerator works properly.
Going one step further, even if you reset the circuit, if you don’t address the stressors tripping that circuit (overloading it with too many appliances running at the same time), the circuit will keep tripping.
Well, the same thing happens in your body if you surge your nervous system with too much stress. Imagine your nervous system as the circuit breaker system for your body. If you add multiple stresses to your body and nervous system, your body gets overloaded, you “blow a circuit” and destroy your health. Chiropractors call this a subluxation. Each circuit in our body controls different organs, muscles, tissues and functions of the body. If too much stress builds up and you get a subluxation affecting a “circuit”, you can experience many symptoms ranging from pain, aches, headaches to more serious problems including digestive problems, frequent colds to even high blood pressure (Journal of Human Hypertension 22,1 G Bakris, MD et al).
Stress occurs in many variations. There is physical stress or trauma which could be from an accident, carrying a pocketbook on one shoulder all the time, typing or using a mouse at a computer all day, slouching, etc. Then there is chemical stress which could be from smoking, eating poor quality foods, taking medications or other pills, pollution, drinking caffeine and other poor quality fluids, the list goes on and on. Finally there is emotional stress… do you know anybody not suffering from this?
So these physical, chemical and emotional stresses build up in your body and cause circuits to trip, which we call subluxations. This will greatly affect your overall health and wellness, leading to many symptoms and illnesses. They didn’t occur from lack of drugs or surgery.
So, how can you avoid the dangers of stress?
Well, we all know it’s impossible to avoid all stress from your life, but you can stay ahead of the negative effects that accumulate over time by having regular chiropractic care. Just like an electrician would come to your house if you had problems with outlets and circuits, a chiropractor is the only specialized health professional that skillfully checks your nervous system for overloaded circuits in your body and turns them back on so you won’t experience an interruption in your state of health and wellness. When it comes to basic, preventative care, nothing beats keeping your circuits on with chiropractic adjustments.
In our office we not only address the subluxations, but we also address the stressors that keep overloading the body. We are 1 of 4 offices in NJ that utilize the only FDA cleared biofeedback device that will analyze your body for over 160,000 stressors that your body could be sensitive too. It is scientifically proven that internal and external stressors contribute to many symptoms and illnesses including: headaches or migraines, digestive problems like IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) or acid reflux, skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema, allergies, food sensitivities, pain, weakened immune systems, fibromyalgia, depression, ADD, ADHD, autism, sleep disorders, anxiety, arthritis, weight loss and gain… just to name a few.
It is also known that your adrenal glands help regulate stress. When the adrenal glands aren’t working, you might have a condition called adrenal fatigue or adrenal failure. Consumption of coffee and other caffeine products as well as refined carbohydrates like pasta, rice and bread will result in adrenal dysfunction. Some common symptoms of this condition are heart conditions, digestive problems, weight problems, immune problems, arthritis, diabetes, allergies, PMS, menopause, libido issues, lack of sleep, lack of energy and so much more.
Finally, everything we eat, breath and drink have chemicals in it that are toxic to our body. This stress causes your body to be toxic and your overall health declines. The more toxic your body is the more acidic it is resulting in more short circuiting of your body.
At Hometown Family Wellness Center, located in Freehold NJ, Dr. Russell Brokstein, DC analyzes you for the different levels of physical, chemical and emotional stresses that cause the short circuiting of your body.
