A recent study shows promising results that chiropractic combined with exercise can significantly ease the pain and disability of adult scoliosis.
The research had 28 patients with adult scoliosis participate in a chiropractic treatment protocol. After six months of treatment, patients saw their disability scores cut in half and experienced a 40% reduction in pain. The improvement in spinal alignment from the chiropractic adjustments, also allowed many of the patients to breathe normally again — something they hadn’t experienced in years.
With adult scoliosis the spine becomes progressively more curved and with these misalignments, pressure occurs on the nerves causing not only pain, but decreased function of the organs, muscles and other tissues that they control. Unfortunately, most people who have scoliosis don’t experience the pain, but have other symptoms of poor health including constipation, diarrhea, restricted breathing and headaches, just to name a few. A combination of gentle chiropractic adjustments and exercise regimen can reduce the compression of nerves while promoting proper spinal alignment and optimal health!
